Merengue is pure joy and its rhythms run through the veins of all Dominicans. In fact, it’s their national music!! Come learn to understand this genre a little better while getting new, fun ideas to apply immediately to your social dancing. By the end of this bootcamp, you will be finding a lot more fun in Merengue! In this bootcamp, you will learn:
😍 1st hour: Find your Joy
In this hour we will ground ourselves with a little background and music discussion while beginning with essential movement & partnerwork basics.
🤩 2nd hour: Playful Turns
Next, we will explore a variety of turns in Merengue and add our style to them
😎 3rd hour: Beyond Turns: Adding More Steps
In our final hour, we will explore more steps in Merengue (yes, it’s NOT just “marching,” as many teacher say) so that you can dance with flavor, flow, and fun to many styles of Merengue.
