About this Event
Find Your Flow: Open Water Swim Clinic
Feel calm, capable, and race ready — all season long.
As open water season kicks off, there's no better time to sharpen your skills, quiet the nerves, and discover what you're truly capable of in the water. Whether you're a first-timer nervous about sighting a buoy or a seasoned triathlete looking to shave time through smarter drafting, this clinic meets you exactly where you are.
With a combined coaching experience of over 50 years, Kathy and Jocelyn will guide you through the skills, strategies, and mindset shifts that make a real difference on race day — and beyond.
What we'll cover:
- Sighting and drafting techniques to swim smarter, not just harder
- Technical skill work tailored to your current ability
- Tools to create a calmer, more positive swim experience — because mindset drives performance
- Race morning preparation strategies so you arrive ready, not rattled
All swimming abilities are welcome. This clinic is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and genuinely transformative — whether this is your first open water experience or your fiftieth race.
Space is extremely limited — maximum of 20 participants — so every swimmer gets real attention and personalized coaching.
Meet Your Coaches
Jocelyn Saunders is a former open water World Champion who set 9 world records in open water swimming and competed as a professional triathlete. Now an active age group triathlete, she brings decades of coaching experience to the water, having coached for DST, Western YMCA, and served as Head Coach at Three Little Bakers. She knows what it takes to compete at the highest level — and how to bring those lessons to swimmers of every background.
Kathy Salvatelli has been in and around the water her entire life. She began competitive swimming at nine, completed the iconic La Jolla Rough Water Swim as her first open water race, and became a California State Beach Lifeguard at sixteen. She spent eight years teaching for the California Junior Lifeguard Program and has coached competitive swimmers since age nineteen. After relocating to Delaware, Kathy coached the Delaware Swim Team's developmental program and operated the Delaware Swim School. She remains an active open water racer and is deeply passionate about introducing swimmers to the joy and empowerment of open water swimming.
