About this Event
According to estimates by the Investment Company Institute and Federal Reserve Board, total US retirement assets were $39.9 trillion as of March 31, 2024, up 4.3 percent from December 2023. Retirement assets accounted for 33 percent of all household financial assets in the United States at the end of March 2024. Unfortunately, retirement accounts are different from regular non-retirement accounts, and they are subject to many different types of taxes and penalties upon death, which is often referred to as the “triple tax syndrome”. Although many individuals have established complex planning strategies, such as revocable living trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, etc., many have not addressed the complex tax and estate planning issues of retirement accounts.
At this workshop, the presenter will go through the top 16 IRA rules you must know to avoid your retirement accounts being annihilated by the tax man. A sample of the rules include:
- Outstanding rollovers, transfers and QLACs
- 5-year rule confusion after death
- Creditor/bankruptcy protection of IRAs
- Year of death distribution. Who takes it?
- The two different 5-year rules for Roth IRAs
- Spousal beneficiary designation for IRA and company plans. How they are different?
- And more
Registration is free and required.
