Follow the crazy journey of the small-time criminal Michel (Jean-Paul Belmondo) and Patricia, his girlfriend (Jean Seberg).
Michel sees himself as a suave outlaw in the style of Humphrey Bogart, but panics and impulsively kills a policeman while driving a stolen car. On the lam, he hides out in the Parisian apartment of his aspiring journalist girlfriend, Patricia, while trying to pool together enough money to get the pair to Italy. But when Patricia learns that her boyfriend is being investigated for M**der, she begins to question her loyalties.
