Sweetgrass, perfect brows, the surprisingly queer life of a climbing clip, a giant imaginary bear, and one very bad day in 1986, this year's Films on the Go lineup delivers seven short films packed with big emotion, sharp humour, and unforgettable moments. Crafted by filmmakers from Newfoundland & Labrador, Mi'kma'ki, Canada, and beyond."I Need to Get This Off my Chest" -- 12-year-old Grace is a criminal. After shoplifting lingerie from a discount department store, she goes to great lengths to cover up the crime.
"What Good Canadians Do" -- A captivating poetic film that explores the intersection of Indigenous perspectives with the broader Canadian identity, creating a rich tapestry that reflects the multifaceted nature of the country and its people.
"The History of the Carabiner" -- A tongue-in-cheek, historical documentary/fashion film hybrid that takes viewers on a journey through queer history to trace the origins of the carabiner as a lesbian symbol.
"welima'q" (it smells good) -- A poetic doc, witnessing a sweetgrass landscape on the shores of Mi'kma'ki. Between the salt water and forest line, a family weaves themselves within the grasses.
"Have I Swallowed Your Dreams" -- A poetic conversation between an immigrant daughter and her mother about sacrifices and dreams.
"73 Seconds" -- In her 7th grade class, Shannon is caught between the ordinary calamity of being herself after getting bullied and the extraordinary catastrophic event of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
"Unibrow" -- In an attempt to get rid of her unibrow, Leyla accidentally makes things worse. Luckily, the new girl at school offers a helping hand and a new perspective.
Donations gladly accepted, suggested minimum $5.00.
