The film is based on the 2020 novel by Maggie O’Farrell and stars Jessie Buckley as Anne Hathaway (called Agnes in this version) and Paul Mescal as a young William Shakespeare, telling the story from their first meeting to the tragic loss of one of their children and how it impacted their lives.
Buckley won the Best Actress Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for her powerful performance.
