Film Tottenham presents Rebel Party!
The Beehive Pub, Tottenham, 30th August to 25th October
With support from Film London, the BFI Film Audience Network and the National Lottery, Film Tottenham aim to build on their community cinema programme bringing Rebellion and Party to the Beehive pub with vibrant imagery and characters that ignite! Starting in August, and part of Rip It Up, a major BFI and Film Audience Network UK-wide season the programme will include Quadrophenia, Twin Town, Young Soul Rebels, Human Traffic, Trainspotting, It’s All Gone Pete Tong, This Is England and Kneecap.
There will be post film discussions and some screenings will have special guests including Kneecap Producer Jack Tarling, artist Reggiimental, indie filmmaker Gary Thomas and documentary filmmaker Alessandro Ugo.
We will be screening the films on a projector screen in the Beehive and aim to show each film with subtitles.

Sunday 30th August: 6.30pm - Quadrophenia (1979) with post film discussion
Sunday 6th September: 6.30pm - Human Traffic (1999) plus a Q and A with documentary filmmaker Alessandro Ugo discussing his time documenting the "Tekno" and "Free Party" music scene
Sunday 13th September: 6.30pm - This Is England (2006) with post film discussion
Sunday 20th September: 6.30pm - Kneecap (2024) plus a Q and A with Kneecap producer Jack Tarling discussing the making of the film and its themes
Sunday 27th September: 6.30pm - It's All Gone Pete Tong (2004) plus a Q and A with indie writer/director Gary Thomas discussing his relationship with sound and music as a partially deaf filmmaker
Saturday 3rd October: 6.30pm - Trainspotting (1996) with post film discussion
Friday 9th October: 6.30pm - Twin Town (1997) with post film discussion
Sunday 25th October: 6.30pm - Young Soul Rebels (1991) plus a performance and Q and A with artist Reggiimental discussing his time working with Pr*son radio, his own music production and how music can inspire hope and rebellion

Quadrophenia (1979)

Jimmy is a young Mod looking for pills, thrills and a sense of identity in 60s London. His increasing reliance on the buzz provided by the gang mentality of his friends reaches its height in the Brighton Bank Holiday confrontations with the Rockers. An inevitable comedown follows when he is expected to return to the plodding banality of everyday life.

This Is England (2006)

This Is England, is the story of a summertime school holiday, those long weeks between terms where life changing events can take place. It’s 1983 and school is out. 12-year-old Shaun (Thomas Turgoose) is an isolated lad growing up in a grim coastal town, whose father has died fighting in the Falklands war. Over the course of the summer holiday he finds fresh male role models when those in the local skinhead scene take him in. With his new friends Shaun discovers a world of parties, first love and the joys of Dr Martin boots. Here he also meets Combo (Stephen Graham), an older, racist skinhead who has recently got out of Pr*son. As Combo’s gang harass the local ethnic minorities, the course is set for a rite of passage that will hurl Shaun from innocence to experience.

But then tragedy hits, as his career and his well-being are suddenly threatened by a seemingly insurmountable twist of fate. This feel good comedy has something for everybody.

A convincing picture of late 70s London, youth culture meets identity politics in this part-thriller, part-gay love story set days before the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations. The hedonistic world of pirate DJs Chris and Caz is shattered when a close friend is killed while cruising in the local park. The black community suspect the National Front, but the police have other ideas.
