About this Event
January 29th, 2024. Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 5-year-old girl is trapped in a car under Israeli fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her. Her name was Hind Rajab.
On Thursday 29th January 2026 – the second anniversary of Hind’s M**der by Israeli militants – Bradford on Avon Friends of Palestine will screen The Voice of Hind Rajab, in memory and honour of Hind, her family, and all Palestinians killed during the Israeli genocide.
This brave act of filmmaking follows Hind’s final hours, as the Palestine Red Crescent Society desperately tried to rescue her, with Israeli tanks closing in on her.
Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania uses real recordings of calls between Hind and the Red Crescent volunteers, as they try to keep her on the line and arrange her rescue.
The film has received rave reviews. Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian calls it “fierce, urgent, and heart-shattering”.
This is film as resistance. Hind’s life – and the lives of the more than 20,000 Palestinian children and 71,000 people murdered by the Israeli regime – will not be forgotten. This film and its screening across the world are acts of commemoration and solidarity with the people of Palestine – and resistance to genocide and the violent imperialism increasingly shaping politics globally.
It is a call to all of us to speak up for children caught in the crossfire of conflict and colonial violence and to end the silent complicity that has defined UK responses to the genocide for far too long. As James Baldwin wrote: “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”
Tickets: £10, on the door, on Eventbrite, or from Ex-Libris bookshop, Bradford on Avon.
All profits to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
