The film "The Beloved" starring the beautiful Hollywood star Raquel Welch, but also with Cypriot actors and extras, residents of the now occupied village, who were then small barefoot children, with bodies and hair full of the sun and salt of the Kerenian sea was filmed in Cyprus in 1970 in the village of Karmi in Kyrenia with music by Yannis Markopoulos and was a major event for Cyprus.
The film strongly promoted the island, the beaches, the locals, their customs and traditions. The story follows a Cypriot living in London who returns home to settle inheritance issues and there meets love in the person of a married woman, but who had been his childhood friend. And so a great love is born.
