Love Birds follows the incredible story of two scientists as they discover lesbian seagulls living on California’s Channel Islands, and how their work helped shape LGBTQ+ history.
The Nat and the San Diego Bird Alliance are proud to present a special screening of this award-winning film about the unprecedented discovery biologists George Hunt and Molly Warner made while studying seagulls on California’s Channel Islands: so-called “gay gulls.” Their findings spark both outrage and celebration in a nation grappling with the rise of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
After the screening, Love Birds director, Elliot Kennerson, will share his experience working on the project and discuss its impact on the LGBTQ+ community.
Tickets are $12 for members, $15 for non-members. Theater doors open at 6:30 PM.
