Trailer:
In 1992, Tevfik Esenç, the last speaker of Ubykh, a language related to Circassian and Abkhazian, died, and the language died with him. In this personal documentary directed by his grandchildren, Burcu Esenç and Cantekin Cantez, the film retraces Esenç’s journey to document the Ubykh language alongside renowned linguists, shedding light on the displacement of the Ubykh and Circassian people.
🏆 The film won the Best Documentary Award at the 2019 Kayseri Film Festival.
