Join us for this very special screening of the film Sierra Odyssey followed by a panel discussion with writer/director Candace Egan and Producer Phil Bartholomew.

Sierra Odyssey is a documentary that chronicles the journey of local photographer and mountaineer Orland Bartholomew. The film sheds light on Bartholomew’s extraordinary feat – the first winter expedition of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1928-29. The monumental achievement in the annals of mountaineering is brought to life through this documentary, offering viewers a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of this historic endeavor. The documentary was written and directed by Fresno State Professor Candace Egan, produced by Orland’s son Phil Bartholomew and edited by students in Fresno State’s Media Communications and Journalism Multimedia Production Service. The film celebrates the legacy of Orland Bartholomew while showcasing the talent, work and collaboration of Fresno State’s faculty, staff and students.
