The Hundred-Foot Journey follows Hassan Kadam, a gifted young cook whose family emigrates from India to a small French village and opens an Indian restaurant directly across the street from a prestigious Michelin-starred French establishment. As cultural clashes and culinary rivalries erupt between the two restaurants—especially between Hassan’s family and the proud French restaurateur Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren)—Hassan’s extraordinary talent begins to bridge the divide. Through food, mentorship, and perseverance, he navigates prejudice, tradition, and ambition, ultimately finding a place where heritage and haute cuisine come together, and where personal growth transforms rivalry into mutual respect.
