July Women is a documentary-style film set in Bangladesh during the 2024 July uprising and student protest movement. Through personal interviews, archive-style footage, and intimate day-to-day moments, the film focuses on the experiences of young women who witnessed and participated in the unrest.

The story highlights how students organized and communicated during the protests, the fear and violence they faced, the role women played in documenting events and supporting each other, and the emotional aftermath of living through political turmoil.

Rather than focusing only on large political events, the film stays personal and reflective, showing friendship, trauma, courage, and resilience through the perspectives of several young women. The tone is quiet and emotional, mixing conversations, memories, and real-life imagery to portray how a national crisis affected ordinary lives.

This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring students who experienced the unrest in 2024 while living in Bangladesh, and who now reflect on that period from their lives in the UK.
