Viktor Taus's "Girl America" is a poignant story of a young girl abandoned and raised in the totalitarian Czechoslovakia, blending surreal imagery with raw reality as she fights for redemption. Known as Girl America (Amerikánka in Czech), she starts as an orphan under communism, moving through a foster care, juvenile detention, and, eventually, the upheaval of the 1989 Velvet Revolution.The screening is followed up by Q&A with director Viktor Taus and set designer Jan Kadlec.
