Budding filmmakers, students, and ALL of Laredo! You're inviting to an extra special event with Mexican-American writer/director SHARON ARTEAGA!🚪Doors open at 1 PM
⏱️We start promptly at 1:30 PM
✨About the lecture:
Arteaga will share a couple of her award-winning short films and how she and her collaborators were able to grow off of the successes of the previous film. She will also share who and what made each of her short films come to life and how each stepping stone led to her most recent and most ambitious short film (to date)!
✨About Sharon Arteaga:
She is a writer/director who convinced her mom to buy her a video camera instead of a Quinceañera. A first-generation Mexican-American, from Corpus Christi, Texas, Arteaga’s work playfully navigates themes of generational, linguistic, and cultural differences. Arteaga's award-winning short films include the 2021 HBO Latinx Short Film Competition Winner, “When You Clean a Stranger’s Home,” now streaming on Max, "IN TOW," and "Plane Pretend". She is a WarnerBros. Discovery 150 Artist for a feature anthology film in development.
Passionate about empowering others to make their own films, Arteaga is one of the founders of the Tejanas in Film and the Sr. Manager of Filmmaker Support at the Austin Film Society.
This event is FREE and open to the PUBLIC!
