The Royal African Society is delighted to invite you to join us for the final installment of a programme of incredible short films from across the African diaspora taking place at over three days at SOAS University as part of Film Africa 2025.
The screening will take place on Thursday 20th November, 7:15pm at Brunei Gallery, SOAS University. Please RSVP using this link.

BETWEEEN US AND SCIENCE (Dir. Brenda Akele Jorde)

Caught between her late father’s Yoruba traditions and her mother’s devout Christianity, a young woman embarks on a mystical journey along the English coast.
KEYS (Dir. Mooreoluwa Natasha Wright)
When her relationship with her domineering father reaches a breaking point, a repressed young girl decides to make her escape from isolation, but a perpetual dark energy emanating from a forbidden room in her house gives her a reason to stay.
MIA (Dir. Traore Hana Halia Lebo)
Fifteen-year-old Mia sneaks out to a party with her friend Ami, where her boyfriend Alex pressures her into sex and secretly films her. When the video becomes blackmail, Mia’s parents intervene, but she seeks her own justice—determined to reclaim her dignity and prove her strength amid betrayal and shame.
SUNSHINE (Dir. Manu Kurewa)
Sunshine', explores the relationship between an African father and daughter, living in Scotland, coming to terms with the death of the mother of the family. It is an exploration of bereavement and reflects the loss that many have had but is a life affirming story which offers hope.
