Mayor Steve Jenson will deliver remarks alongside special guests Tim Gatz, Director, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Rhys Martin, president of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, and Kerry Barrick, Route 66 coordinator and Promotion Point specialist for Oklahoma Main Street. Attendees will be able to tour the new facility which features clean restrooms, guidance from local Route 66 experts, and a gift shop showcasing Made in Oklahoma products and souvenirs.Following the ribbon-cutting, attendees can continue the celebration at El Reno’s annual Fried Onion Burger Day Festival,
scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown El Reno. The festival celebrates the city’s deep-rooted tradition of the fried onion burger, a regional delicacy that has been a staple of El Reno’s culinary culture for decades.
