Fight Cancer For Trina
I never thought I would have to write these words.
My best friend, someone I love more like family, is 41 years old and has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
And she has a 4-month-old baby.
If you know her story, you know just how incredibly heartbreaking and unfair this is.
For most of her life, she was told that she couldn’t have children. She carried that belief with her for years and had to accept the possibility that becoming a mother simply wasn’t in the cards for her.
Then, at 40 years old, something happened that she had probably stopped believing was possible.
She got pregnant.
That baby became her miracle.
After waiting 40 years to become a mom, she finally had the little person she had dreamed of. She finally got to experience the joy of holding her own baby, watching those first smiles, hearing those little sounds, and imagining all of the years ahead.
She should be spending this time exhausted from sleepless nights, covered in baby spit-up, taking a million pictures, and wondering how her tiny baby is already growing so fast.
Instead, she is having to fight for her life.
She is now facing stage 4 cancer and intensive chemotherapy. She has a long, difficult road ahead of her, and there is no way to know exactly what the coming months will bring.
What I do know is that she shouldn’t have to fight cancer and worry about how she is going to keep the lights on, pay her mortgage or rent, buy groceries, cover childcare, or keep up with everyday expenses while she is sick.
She is a single mother with very little family support, and right now, she needs her village.
That is why I am asking for help.
I want her to be able to walk into chemotherapy without having the added fear of wondering how she’s going to make ends meet. I want her to be able to rest when her body needs to rest. I want her to be able to focus on getting stronger and taking care of her baby instead of worrying about which bill can wait until next month.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping keep her and her baby afloat while she goes through treatment and is unable to work as much. It will help with bills, groceries, childcare, transportation, medical expenses, and the everyday costs of raising a baby and maintaining a home.
I wish I could take this away from her.
I wish I could guarantee her that everything is going to be okay.
But I can’t do those things.
What I can do is stand beside her and ask everyone who reads this to stand beside her too.
She has already had to face the heartbreak of believing she would never become a mother. Then, against all odds, she was given her miracle.
Now she is fighting for the chance to raise that miracle.
Her baby is only four months old.
There are first steps she hasn’t seen yet. First words she hasn’t heard. Birthdays she hasn’t celebrated. Christmas mornings she hasn’t experienced. School pictures she hasn’t taken. There are so many memories waiting for her and her baby.
She deserves the chance to be there for all of them.
If you can donate, please know that no amount is too small. $10, $20, $50—every single contribution adds up and means more than I can put into words.
If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser. A share could put this in front of the one person who is able to make a huge difference for her.
And if all you can do is pray, please pray for her. Pray for her strength. Pray for her healing. Pray for her baby. And pray that this beautiful little family gets many, many more years together.
She waited 40 years for her miracle.
Now we’re asking for help making sure she gets to watch that miracle grow.
Please help my best friend fight. ❤️ -Bridget
