About this Event

Over the past few decades, US and international scholars and practitioners have increasingly focused on corruption in the five Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, and the impact of Western aid and investment there. But there has been far less attention on just how corruption works in these five countries today- all quite different from each other- and to what extent US and international assistance over the past five decades may have helped address or only exacerbated corruption there. Dr. Lubin will focus on these five Central States to explore those issues, where the countries stand today, and lessons learned for the future.

Event Speakers

Nancy Lubin: President, JNA Associates, Inc.

Nargis Kassenova: Senior Fellow; Director, Program on Central Asia, Davis Center
