All aboard! EAT invites you to our first ever Field Trip out to Lake Michigan!
Prepare your “sea legs” and join us for a unique opportunity to learn from watershed experts in Grand Haven this summer! Set sail with us aboard one of GVSU's research vessels for an informative discussion about the environment of the lower Grand River, Spring Lake and Lake Michigan. EAT leader, Dr. Mark Gleason, will be a featured speaker demonstrating his underwater ROV expertise (live demo dependent upon conditions) along with the GVSU staff during the 2hr presentation on the water.
Cost: $10/person limit 25 attendees max. When: Thursday, July 23, 2026
What time: 11AM carpool meet-up at Kent County Democratic Party, 301 Fuller Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
12:30PM Check-in Dr. Gleason and GVSU crew will facilitate the boarding process and confirm all final attendees and guests at the dock in Grand Haven.
1PM - Departure Time - Captain will leave without you so please don’t be late!
3:30PM - Return to dock and Disembark
Please make arrangements with Dr. Gleason to pay the $10 ticket price in-person ahead of time. He’ll be in attendance at our monthly EAT meeting turned-happy-hour-social event at Brewery Vivant on July 7th at 6:30PM to facilitate this (restaurant is located in the East Hills neighborhood at 925 Cherry Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49506). You must commit by the conclusion of our July 7th Monthly EAT Meeting in order to secure your spot in this exclusive scientific demonstration on the Grand Haven channel.
Be ready with cash or check to register with Mark and receive your physical receipt as proof of payment and registration (he will also follow up with a digital, email confirmation that week). A map to the dock in Grand Haven will be provided upon pre-purchase of your tickets from Dr. Mark Gleason at Brewery Vivant on July 7th. 🎟️

The EAT group size for the vessel is limited to 25 attendees.
Food and drink will not be provided aboard. Please bring your own sunscreen, insect protection, hydration and snacks. Again, tickets will be available at the July EAT Meeting @6:30PM so come prepared to Brewery Vivant that night! ⚓️🚢🛟🌊
