Join Hoy Audubon bird watch along the Kenosha lakefront at various locations. We'll meet at the Southport Park parking area by 9:00 AM (just north of the Kenosha Sand Dunes), 7825 1st Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53143. https://hoyaudubon.org/event/2026-01-24/
After meeting at Southport Park, we will visit other spots along the lakefront. The field trip end time will depend on bird activity and/or weather conditions but will generally conclude no later than 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM.
Along the lake we’ll be looking for migrating ducks, gulls, and other waterfowl.
It’s winter and is usually cold and windy at the lakeshore, so dress for the weather (a warm jacket, a hat, and gloves) and wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring a bird field guide, binoculars, and a spotting scope if you have them. The walk is free and open to the public.
If you utilize eBird, please inquire with the field trip leader as who is submitting the group checklists for the morning so that the lists can be shared with you! Please have your eBird username at hand or your email address.
Field Trip Weather Advisory: Weather can be unpredictable, so jackets, gloves, and waterproof footwear are advised when birding. We post field trip cancellations on Hoy's website and Hoy’s Facebook page/group whenever it is possible to do so ahead of time. If it's raining lightly, we may still go on a hike. If it's a downpour or in other hazardous conditions, we won't. If you are unsure whether a trip will take place, please use good judgment when deciding whether to attend.
