Trip/Area: This is a 93-acre conservation area of sand pine scrub, oak hammock, scrubby flatwoods, and bottomland forest. This area also contains one of the northernmost known protected locations for Lakela Mint, a federally endangered plant, known to occur only in St. Lucie and Indian River counties. Part of the trail is a boardwalk across wetlands. The Hallstrom House is open on Wednesdays starting at 10 AM and would be a nice addition to the trip for those who have not yet visited it to learn more about our county’s history. There is wonderful informative signage along the way about the flora and fauna. Bathroom facilities are available.
Duration: 1 hour. Depends on the amount of nature viewing.
Walking Distance: ~ 1 mile at the most. There are about 2 miles of looped walking trails for those wishing to extend the trip.
