Spend the day making your one-of-a-kind treasure. Become one with the art of nature! The only requirement: CURIOSITY! Participants will make and learn basic bookbinding tools and materials by creating their own leather Field Notebook. We’ll use Fabrino Artistico 140lbs cold press binding paper and Irish waxed linen book binding thread. Drawing or painting skills are not required to set up your own journal/nature journal. You will learn a long stitch book-binding process.Tracy Sherrill is a local artist who returned to Hickory after several years of roaming Beech Mountain and the Pisgah Forest. Successfully participating in the WNC juried art shows, she is an avid observer, birder, hiker, artist, and journal writer.
While all materials are provided, participants are strongly encouraged to bring the following as minimal tools are available:
-Pencil
-Fine Point black Sharpie
-Box Cutters
-Bone folder or drinking glass with smooth surface
-Ruler (metal one is best)
-Leather Punch (2 available to share)
