This summer, a creative writing course for English speakers will take place, led by the American writer William Burton McCormick, who lives in Latvia. ✍️

The course will include exercises to improve prose writing style, discussions about the elements of fiction writing, and guidance on the path to publishing novels, short stories, and creative nonfiction. Participants will both write fiction and discuss their work with the instructor and fellow students. Previous writing experience is not required, but fluent English proficiency is necessary.
William Burton McCormick is an American author of mystery and historical fiction. He is the author of five books and more than one hundred published short stories. The Latvian edition of his first novel, Lenin's Harem, was published by Zvaigzne ABC in 2014 and was included in the library of the Latvian War Museum. William’s works have been finalists for two of the most prestigious crime fiction awards: the Edgar Allan Poe Award, presented by the Mystery Writers of America, and the Dagger Award, presented by the Crime Writers' Association.

Each class lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Classes will take place in Riga at Ģertrūdes Street 32, on the second floor of the Tavi draugi charity shop charity shop, and will begin at 6:00 PM.
