Whatever your reason, Fall Fiber Week at Stella’s Art Gallery is the perfect time to dive into creativity and learn something new!
We’re offering a different hands-on class every day—from papermaking to embroidery, felted creations, basket weaving, eco-printing, and more. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced maker, there’s something for everyone.

🗓 Monday, September 8
Papermaking with Recycled Materials with Carol Leikala | 1:00–4:00pm | $50 Learn to create handmade paper using recycled materials and fun inclusions. Make your own unique shapes using a mould and deckle and experiment with freeform screen techniques. This is a fun, messy class—please dress for mess! Students are welcome to bring their own inclusions such as thread, petals, or fiber bits.

Experience the fun that is tie-dye! Designs shown are only examples—folding techniques, color theory, and application will be explained so you can make your own vibrant creations.

*Eco Discharge Printing on Cotton with Candace Barr (Ages 14–Adult) | 10:30am–1:00pm | $40
With instructor Candace Barr, use oak or maple leaves and eco-discharge techniques to print natural designs on your own cotton tee or flat cotton item. Best on dark-colored fabric (navy, black, etc.). Bring your own item to print. All other supplies provided. Wear an apron—bleach will be used!

Basket Coiling with Carol Leikala | 1:30–4:00pm | $50
Create a small (5–6 inch) coiled basket using yarn and coiling cord. Learn the meditative art of coiling while crafting a beautiful piece. Class includes 18 feet of cord, 2 tapestry needles, and a skein of yarn.

*Paper Pulp Bowls with Anna Weisend | 10:30am–1:00pm | $25
Turn scrap paper into pulp and mold it into charming handmade bowls. Learn to make and preserve pulp, add inclusions, and explore the best paper types for this technique. All students will leave with two small bowls. Supplies included.

*Accordion Books: A Story in Fiber with Cath Smith | 1:00–3:00pm | $30 Transform fiber scraps into a sculptural, accordion-style book! Learn folding, gluing, and embellishment techniques using collage, drawing, and fiber elements.
Bring any scraps or fiber experiments from the week. Basic supplies included—no experience necessary!
