Fiber Fusion is an exhibition of fiber works from Centerville artist Cathy Jeffers
and Friends.
Cathy has been a fiber artist since 2003 when she began with a quilt to honor the
Wright Brothers. Although she no longer owns this quilt, it was a mixture of art
and audacity with all kinds of gears, screws and airplane fabric. It was
memorable, but she continued with textiles anyhow as it had been her favorite
medium throughout high school and Art Education at Miami University.
She began taking fiber classes at QSDS, a summer school for serious textile
artists in Columbus. There she met Jane Burch Cochran who became her
mentor. Their friendship
led to both participating at the International Quilt Museum, Lincoln, Nebraska and
the Riffe Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. Cathy competed in shows in over twenty states
and was in Quilt National in 2009 with the Artist and the Mermaid. Cathy has
taught art quilting at the Dayton Art Institute and at OAEA the organization for
Ohio’s art teachers. She has had ten solo shows.
Cathy’s work is bold and unforgiving. Color drives her work and is helped with
rich backgrounds and patterns that don’t go together but somehow please the
eye. All of her work will be for sale. Her themes are of nature, animals,
storytelling, Women With Wings, and abstractions. You can learn more about

Joining Cathy in Fiber Fusion are Charmaine Boggs, Leesa Haapapuro, Peggy
Hostetter, Anita Huber, and Carole Staples. It is a pleasure to share the spaces
with my friends.
