Each year, over 1,000 cities throw citywide music celebrations around the summer solstice. It started 40+ years ago in France, when the Ministry of Culture imagined a day where free, live music would be everywhere: street corners and parks, rooftops and gardens, storefronts, and mountaintops. Unlike a typical music festival, anyone and everyone would be invited to join and play music and host performances. It’s called Fête de la Musique.
The Georgetown BID, Georgetown Heritage Arts, and Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, are partnering to host our third annual Fête de la Musique – Make Music Day on Saturday, June 20. 40+ musical acts will perform in 10+ outdoor locations throughout Georgetown (4 pm – 8 pm), or at one of several stages at the French Embassy (7:30 pm – 11:30 pm). Stay tuned for the music schedule and performers, coming soon!
