Much like the winding Rio Grande, New Mexico’s Sephardic history is long and complex, resulting in an interwoven tapestry of identities—nourished by the hidden waters of survival and by shifting landscapes. This year, we will venture into these waters together: cultivating a deeper understanding through poetry, stories, music, art, and your warm presence.We are pleased to announce that the festivities will begin on the evening of Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m., with the event "Reclaiming the Torah: Teachings from the Sephardic Tradition and the Torah of Nonviolence for Shavuot," featuring Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, rabbinical student Rinat Abastado, and friends. Casa Sefarad serves the Sephardic community of New Mexico—which primarily includes people of Hispanic and Latinx descent, Crypto-Jews, conversos, Mizrahim, Jews of Color, and those of mixed lineages who exist on the margins of the diaspora
Al igual que el serpenteante Río Grande, la historia sefardí de Nuevo México es larga y compleja, dando como resultado un tapiz entretejido de identidades, nutrido por las aguas ocultas de la supervivencia y por paisajes cambiantes. Este año nos adentraremos juntos en estas aguas: desarrollando una comprensión más profunda a través de la poesía, las historias, la música, el arte y su cálida presencia.
Nos complace anunciar que las festividades comenzarán la noche del jueves 21 de mayo, a las 7:00 p. m., con el evento «Reclamando la Torá: Enseñanzas de la tradición sefardí y la Torá de la no violencia para Shavuot», junto a la rabina Lynn Gottlieb, la estudiante rabínica Rinat Abastado y amigos. ¡Marquen sus calendarios!

Empoderamos a nuestra comunidad para que recupere su narrativa, comparta su expresión artística e inspire a las generaciones futuras. Casa Sefarad sirve a la comunidad sefardí de Nuevo México, la cual incluye principalmente a personas de origen hispano y latino, criptojudíos,conversos, mizrajíes, judíos de color y aquellos de linajes mixtos que existen en los márgenes de la diáspora.
