Whether drawn to cherished Christmas traditions, vintage collectibles, or festive holiday décor, visitors will discover something special at the Marvin House’s Festival of Trees.
This year, the Marvin House celebrates its Diamond Jubilee — 75 years of empowering and celebrating women in Chautauqua County. In December 1951, 400 women became charter members of the Elizabeth Warner Marvin Community House, fulfilling Elizabeth’s wish that her home serve as a gathering place for women’s organizations dedicated to education, civic engagement, and the moral, mental, and creative improvement of women.
Seventy-five years later, Elizabeth’s legacy lives on in a welcoming place where women gather, ideas flourish, history is preserved, and community connections grow.
The Festival of Trees is one of the special events planned to commemorate this milestone anniversary and honor Elizabeth Warner Marvin’s enduring legacy.
The Marvin House is a stunning example of E.G.W. Dietrich’s Shingle Style architecture, where distinctive architectural elements blend to create a home of remarkable character and charm. Concerned about the future of her beloved home, Elizabeth Marvin took steps to preserve her legacy through a bequest in her will. Following her death in 1950, the women of Jamestown established the Marvin Community House, ensuring that her vision would continue for generations to come.
