Unto the Good People of Caid, warm Greetings and most gracious Salutations!
The Barony of Dun Or joyfully invites one and all to join us for a day of mirth, merriment and noble fellowship at the Festival of the Rose, to be held upon Saturday, the Fifteenth of August 2026. Come and join us in a splendid celebration of love, beauty, and the Arts and Artisans of glorious Caid, held in honor of Her Royal Majesty, our radiant and most beloved Queen Fara!
The noble tradition of the Festival of the Rose first blossomed in the year 1980 as the Queen’s Arts Tea, when Her Royal Majesty Amsha called upon the Chivalry and the Royal Guard to display their skill and talents in honor of the occasion, and in tribute to the Crown. In that same spirit of inspiration, Her Majesty, Queen Fara, most warmly invites and encourages all associates to the Peerage — Squires, Apprentices, Protégés, Provosts, and Prodigies alike — together with all artisans, scholars, and performers throughout the realm, to present the fruits of their skill and imagination in the Arts, Sciences, and the Bardic traditions. Whether set forth for admiration or entered in honorable competition, let all works be offered in celebration of Her Majesty and in pursuit of the title of Her Champion.
And should you have need of treasures rare and wondrous, rejoice! A silent auction will be held for the benefit of the Kingdom Travel Fund! If you are interested in gifting the auction with any treasures - in good condition, of course- that you may no longer need, please bring them for inclusion, or email a detailed gift certificate to Her Royal Majesty’s Chamberlain, Duchess Lorissa, at [email protected]!
We look forward to celebrating Beauty, Love, and Our Beloved Queen Fara with you at the Festival of the Rose!
SCHEDULE:
8:30am - Site opens for Artisans to set up displays
9am - Site opens for all other attendees 10am - Opening Court, or at Their Majesties' pleasure.
12pm - Lunch
1pm - Bardic Performances begin, or at Their Majesties pleasure
4pm - Closing Court
5pm - Site closes
EVENT REGISTRATION: Adult Event Registration $25, Adult Member Discount Event Registration, $15. Youth aged 17 and under are guests of the Barony. Acceptable payment forms: Please make checks payable to SCA, Inc/Barony of Dun Or. We will gratefully accept donations at the gate to offset the cost of Non-Member Surcharges for gentles who may have need, especially guests that may be attending their first event.
A&S Competition/Displays: Artisans are encouraged to provide A&S demonstrations throughout the day. Please submit this sign-up form if you would like to compete or display your A&S:

Performance Arts: Do you have a song to sing? A rhyme to rhyme? A story to tell? Happy feet that simply *must* dance in honor of Her Majesty? If so, you are welcome to do so during our Performance Art Presentations! All performances should be limited to 2-5 minutes, and will be scheduled throughout the day! In accordance with the SCA core value of respecting the worth and dignity of all individuals and the desire to promote an environment safe for our youngest participants, we kindly ask that artisans and bardic displays meet the requirements of the values of our hosts, and do not include vulgar, violent and/ or sexual content.
