This special concert will honour the incredible leadership and ministry of Bandmaster John Lam as he approaches his retirement at the end of the season.The evening will also feature internationally acclaimed trumpeter Jens Lindemann, as well as the Canadian Staff Songsters. Jens Lindemann is a world-renowned Canadian trumpet soloist, known for his virtuosic technique, expressive artistry, and diverse musical repertoire spanning classical, jazz, and contemporary genres. Born in Canada, he first gained international recognition as a member of the famed Canadian Brass before embarking on a successful solo career. Over the years, he has performed as a featured soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, gracing prestigious concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Hollywood Bowl. His performances are characterized by a unique blend of technical brilliance and emotional depth, earning him widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
Beyond his performance career, Lindemann is a passionate educator and advocate for music education. He serves as a professor at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, where he mentors and inspires young musicians, sharing his expertise in brass performance and musical interpretation. He is also frequently invited to give masterclasses and workshops at institutions worldwide. His contributions to music have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Order of Canada, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors. As an artist, educator, and ambassador for brass music, Lindemann continues to push the boundaries of trumpet performance, captivating audiences and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
