What does downtown St. John’s look like when translated into texture, fibre and feelings? Join us for a mindful, hands-on experience and discover how engaging with the landscape can nourish creativity, connection and spirit.
Spending time with landscapes by looking, reflecting, and creating can foster a sense of calm, perspective and wonder. Through historic photographs and contemporary artwork from Newfoundland and Labrador, we will consider how artists express connection to place, and how moments of awe in the landscape can support our wellbeing and sense of belonging.
You will:
- See the city from a unique vantage point. Looking out over the harbour, streets and colourful architecture, you will be guided to slow down, observe closely, and notice how shapes, lines and layers describe the land on a human scale.
- Learn basic needle felting techniques to blend colour and build texture
- Create a small textile landscape that reflects both observation and personal experience
All materials are provided and no experience is needed.
Cost: $40 plus HST. 10% discount for Rooms members. Register online or by calling 709-757-8090.
