Felted Soap: Art You Can Actually Use
Felted soap is a bar of soap covered in natural wool fibers using a wet felting process. The wool acts like a built-in washcloth, creating gentle exfoliation while helping the soap last longer. As you use it, the wool gradually shrinks along with the soap inside, leaving behind a small felted pouch that can be reused for crafts or decorative projects.
In this fun, beginner-friendly workshop, you'll create two felted soap bars and learn the basics of wet felting. Participants may choose from several design styles:
• Realistic Michigan lake stone soaps that look surprisingly like smooth shoreline rocks
• Festive Christmas-in-July color palettes and holiday-inspired designs
• Your own creative patterns, colors, and artistic ideas
We'll work with beautiful wool fibers in a wide range of colors and learn how to wrap, shape, and felt the wool around soap to create functional works of art that are both practical and gift-worthy.
Whether you're making them for yourself, as unique handmade gifts, or simply to try a fun fiber arts project, you'll leave with three finished felted soaps and the skills to make more at home.
No experience necessary. All materials provided. Family friendly - Under 14 must be accompanied by adult helper.
