Felted Ruffle Scarf
About this Event
Date: November 6, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture
Join us for this hands-on workshop where participants will design and create their own felted ruffle scarves using fine merino wool. Students will be guided in creating thin and even layers of fine wool to create beautiful edges around the scarf and explore how varying the directions and the thicknesses of the layers result in differential shrinkage, providing control while shaping the scarf.
All materials will be provided.
For ages 16 and older. Those under age 16 may attend accompanied by an adult.
About the Instructor:
Flóra Carlile-Kovács - Seattle, WA
The award winner of several wearable art shows, Flóra Carlile-Kovács is a professional felt artist born in Szeged, Hungary, now living and working in Seattle WA. In her work she incorporates two bodies of knowledge, the nomadic traditions and the urban, modern style of feltmaking. Coming from the European tradition of craftsmanship and quality, she is constantly experimenting with ways to improve not only the visual artistic aspect of her work, but also its physical integrity as a functional object appropriate for everyday use.
