Welcome to series 2 of the Felpham Public Lectures, hosted by St Mary's Church, Felpham. The lectures are Free and Open to All. Starting on Thursday 20th November, we are delighted to have Dr Paul Quinn, Senior Lecturer in English Literature at our local university, discuss how the devastation of the natural world during the First World War impacts on the writing of a range of poets including Siegfried Sassoon, Edmund Blunden and Isaac Rosenberg. Lurking behind the poetic accounts of the "torn fields of France" is the fear, for Sassoon and Blunden at least, that the same destruction would be wrought on their beloved Wealden landscape.
As a venue, St Mary's Church provides a beautiful setting which also has good acoustics and comfortable seating (yes, really). There is free parking in the Grassmere Close car park at PO22 7NU from where you can take a path through the Churchyard to the Church.
Please book your free ticket to this event.
