BECCLES, 23 MAY: As the Beccles Food Festival concludes, Guardian food columnist Felicity Cloake shares evocative and hilarious tales from her international missions, searching for new things to eat.Felicity has cycled round France in search of the perfect croissant; toured the UK exploring the Great British breakfast; and comes to Settle, as her latest book, ‘Peach Street to Lobster Lane’, a culinary tour of America, comes out in paperback.
Felicity will be in conversation with adventurer and author Emily Chappell, whose back-to-basics globetrotting has involved simpler refuelling: existing on gallons of porridge in the Alaskan winter; rushed foraging in Lidls during a non-stop bike race across Europe.
In an afternoon of entertaining, revealing and maybe even inspirational chat, Felicity and Emily will compare notes on their experiences, discoveries and misadventures.
Felicity has written the Guardian’s ‘How to Make the Perfect…’ column since 2009 and is author of eight acclaimed books, including ‘The A-Z of Eating: A Flavour Map for the Adventurous Cook’ (2016), the Sunday Times bestselling One More Croissant for the Road (2019) and Fortnum and Mason food book of the year, Red Sauce, Brown Sauce: A British Breakfast Odyssey (2022).
