Feels Like Home: An Art Show by Alex Vance

Join Utah artist Alex Vance for a free evening of original oil landscapes at the Draper Day Barn. Feels Like Home features around 20 pieces gathered from the mountains he grew up in and the places his adventures have taken him, from Utah's own trails to Iceland, Alaska, and the California coast, many painted en plein air, right there on location. Originals and prints will be available at a range of price points, cards accepted, and anything you fall in love with goes home with you that night.
Alex will be doing free live two-minute sketches of everyone who stops by, so you'll walk away with a little original piece of your own. He'll also share a brief intro during the evening about himself, the theme of the show, and where the inspiration for these paintings came from. Light refreshments will be served while you browse.
Alex was raised in these mountains and still lives in them year-round, hiking in the summer, snowboarding at Brighton all winter, and painting through every season. His adventures have shaped the work in this show, from plein air painting across Utah to backpacking and hitchhiking through Iceland, to a summer spent driving up to Alaska, painting remote and beautiful places along the way.
He's been painting for over 10 years and heads to Florence, Italy this September to continue his studies in fine art. He also loves taking on commissions, turning people's most cherished places and memories into original paintings for their homes, and has painted murals in private homes as well. If you've ever wanted a piece made just for you, come talk with him about it. He'll be there all evening.
Alex believes that as humans we need to find moments and ways to connect to each other and the world around us. Whether you're a longtime collector, an interior designer looking for original work for a client, or someone who simply loves beautiful art, you're welcome here. Admission is free, parking is free, and kids are welcome too. Come say hi, hear the stories behind the paintings, meet some cool people, and enjoy an evening surrounded by landscapes that might just remind you of your own version of home.
