Get the lowdown on counting fecal eggs like a pro and boost your livestock health with some hands-on tips.About this Event
In this class, learn how to run your own sheep/goat fecal sample using the McMaster Technique.
The primary goal of an FEC is to determine the number of eggs per gram (EPG) of feces. This helps producers:
- Identify which animals are "high shedders."
- Monitor the effectiveness of dewormers (Anthelmintics).
- Reduce pasture contamination.
- Slow the development of parasite resistance.
Please bring a fresh sample from your animal that has been kept cool to the class for you to practice. We will have all the supplies to teach you how to run your own fecals.
Registration cost is $25 per person.
