Please join the Northampton Center for the Arts, A.P.E. Ltd., and Northampton Open Media at 33 Hawley for an opening reception with refreshments and live music during Arts Night Out on Friday, 2/13 from 5:00-8:00 pm!
The Northampton Center for the Arts presents “Nature Printed, Stitched, and Pieced” in the Barn Door Gallery. Fiber artists Amanda Maciuba, Sharon McCartney, and Bonnie Sennott use hand and machine embroidery, sewing, surface design, and printmaking techniques to create original textile art rooted in the natural world.
A.P.E. Ltd. presents “Mutating Origins” in the Mezzanine, by Adeyemi Adebayo, and in the Lower Level Split Level Gallery is “Listen to My Photographs,” a work by artists from the Care Center. Adeyemi creates a powerful photographic journey exploring the lives and identities of migrants as they leave their homeland. The work of students in The Care Center's high school equivalency program for young mothers explored the art of storytelling through a series of photography workshops led by Ani Rivera, Mari Champagne, and Madeline Keating. Come see the narratives and stories both exhibits hold.
Live music by Beetsblog & Samuel Boat
Beetsblog, led by songwriter Taggie Coppins, is a soft, adult-freak, contemporary band based in western Mass and southern Vermont, once described as a queer Steely Dan or a self-taught, outsider Burt Bacharach.
Samuel Boat has been recording and performing lo-fi “soda pop rock” since 2014. Performing around New England’s haunted DIY spots, Samuel Boat, le commandant Sam Lisabeth, has entertained audiences with his songs in the key of pop. After years as a member of art rock band Guerilla Toss, Sam has settled into his life in song—hoping to capture the ears of fans far and wide.
NOHO Art Club
Head downstairs to Eli’s Room for a Noho Art Club meet-up from 5:00-8:00 PM. Come play with collage and check out Paige Quinn-Vasic’s expressive botanical watercolor demos, which she’ll be offering through the Center soon! Special guest, Noho Art Club member Nicole Newell-Marcus, will display her hand-sewn bunny dolls and tiny knit sweaters and offer embroidery demonstrations. Bring your craft and join us to play, craft, and connect with your local arts community.
Talk Nothing Podcast
Join Northampton Open Media in their lower-level office for their second recording of Talk Nothing Podcast from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. This all-ages, four-person, first-come-first-serve podcast welcomes anyone to start a conversation based on their imagination or using the provided topic cards. Share what you’ve learned over the year, a recipe, a song, or simply listen in. The second episode kicks off this Friday (2/13), with recording starting at 6 PM!
Queer Prom
Don’t forget to buy your ticket for the best Queer Valentines event at 33 Hawley after Arts Night Out from 8-11 pm!
All exhibits can also be seen during open hours Wednesday through Saturday, 12-7 p.m. More information about the galleries can be found at https://www.nohoarts.org/galleries
