How do faith and art shape the ways we understand and tend to mental health? What does it mean to face melancholy, grief, and despair not as failures of faith, but as part of the shared human condition, and as invitations to deeper compassion?
Join poet and facilitator Marlanda Dekine and minister Rev. Scott Neely for an hour of reflection and dialogue exploring the intersections of spirituality, mental well-being, and creative expression. Together, they will consider how faith communities can nurture spaces of healing and belonging for all who live with mental health challenges.
The gathering will include a shared reading of Jane Kenyon’s “Having It Out with Melancholy,” followed by an open community conversation where participants are invited to reflect and speak from their own experiences. This conversation is designed to be a space of mutual listening, curiosity, and care, a place to learn from one another as we seek a more compassionate world.
