Geelong Concert Band presents: FeaturesPart of our 40th Anniversary Season
Sunday 24 May | 2:00pm | Robertson Hall, Geelong College
Get ready for an afternoon that puts the spotlight firmly where it belongs - on the incredible musicians right here in our own backyard.
Features is the second concert in GCB's landmark 40th Anniversary season, and what better way to mark the occasion than returning to Robertson Hall at Geelong College - the very venue where the band spent many years honing its craft. There's something special about coming home.
This concert celebrates homegrown talent, showcasing three of our ensembles across a rich and varied afternoon of live concert band music. From our developing players in the Workshop Band through to our Community Band and Senior Band, Features is a showcase of the full breadth of what Geelong's concert band community has to offer.
The highlight of the program features the Genius Sax Quartet joining forces with the Senior Band for a performance of Australian composer Jodie Blackshaw's electrifying Catango 5 - a bold, rhythmically-charged work for saxophone quartet and band that is guaranteed to get under your skin.
Performing Groups
Workshop Band, conducted by Joel Cassidy
Community Band, conducted by Jen Clutterbuck
Senior Band, conducted by Mathew Taylor
Guest Artists: Genius Sax Quartet
Whether you're a long-time supporter of the band or discovering us for the first time, Features promises an afternoon of live music that is warm, exciting, and proudly Geelong. Don't miss this chapter in our 40th Anniversary story.
