Join JUTE Theatre Company for a public showing of Fearless, a contemporary First Nations theatre work in development by Cairns-based rapper and emerging playwright Charmaine “Dizzy Doolan" Armstrong.
The work follows a young Indigenous woman who leaves her small town for the city to pursue her dreams. Along the way, she faces racism, sexism, domestic violence, homelessness, rejection and suicide, drawing on the strength of her ancestors as she discovers her own resilience and fearlessness.
Combining theatre, rap, spoken word and blues, Fearless explores identity, survival, ambition and what it truly means to be fearless.
This showing follows a five-day creative development with Director Lisa Fa’alafi, dramaturg Chris Kohn and a cast of four. Audiences will experience the work in development, followed by a Q&A with the playwright, director and cast.
