START THE NEW YEAR OFF WITH A COMEDY AND THE JOY OF LIVE THEATER JANUARY 23 - FEBRUARY 8, 2026. "Dirty Work at the Crossroads" is a comedic melodrama that tells in laughable style the tear-jerking story of Nellie Lovelace, a country girl.
Munro Murgatroyd is the classic villain in the play who is intent on selling some land underhandedly to the railroad. He has a wife Ida Rhinegold, belle of the New Haven Music Halls, but that does not prevent him from trying to pursue Nellie.
Nor does it prevent him from driving Adam Oakhart, the blacksmith's son to vices, or from blackmailing rich Mrs. Asterbilt, or from bewitching her daughter, Leonie. Enjoy some laughter and find out what happens at the crossroads! Optional audience participation will take place!
The play is directed by Marty Kelly, produced by Carina Clawson-Rossi, written by Bill Johnson, and produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. There are some audience participation options in this comedy so join in the fun!
Performances for the classic comedy melodrama, "Dirty Work at the Crossroads", will take place January 23, 2026 - February 8, 2026 at Fauquier Community Theatre. Friday and Saturday performances take place at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm.
