About this Event
Course Overview
The goal of this 8-week course, taught by Shaykh Mohammad Hamdani, is to help you understand the significance and importance of fasting in Islam.
Fasting is not only an act of physical discipline but also a powerful spiritual practice that brings the believer closer to Allah.
You will also gain an in-depth understanding of Zakat, the humanitarian and spiritual obligation that purifies wealth and uplifts the less fortunate.
This course addresses common questions faced by Muslims in modern times, such as:
- Do I need to pay Zakat on my car and my house?
- Can I give Zakat to my parents?
- I have a mortgage; do I still need to pay Zakat?
- Do I pay Zakat on my student finance?
- I haven’t paid Zakat in years; what do I do?
- What are the spiritual implications of giving charity?
- How do I calculate Zakat by myself?
On fasting, you will explore its legal rulings and contemporary issues, including:
- Does smoking invalidate my fast?
- Can I use injections while fasting?
- Is it true that fasts are invalidated by using inhalers?
- Do I have to fast when I’m pregnant?
By the end of this course, you will have a clear understanding of fasting’s profound spiritual benefits, the conditions required to make it valid, and practical guidance on fulfilling your Zakat obligations.
