New this year:
Series registration (one time for the year!)
'Permanent' Bibs with RFID tags (free, $5 replacement charge so bring it and don't lose it!)
$5 to select your Bib number (in-person only, first come/first served at FASTLAPS activities)
Step 0: https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=420001
(required to verify MVMBA membership, provide contact and emergency contact info, sign 2025 season waiver for FASTLAPS activities). Note: current MVMBA membership is required for activity insurance and is the only way we can afford to put on these activities ($39/year individually or $5/month, $50/year for family membership for up to 9 family members).
After registering for the series with Step 0 above, you can sign up for individual FASTLAPS activities but must use enter same email used for step 0:
ENTER the SAME email you used for series registrations! You must have registered and signed your waiver for the 2026 Fast Laps series prior to registering for this event. If you have any changes to your contact or emergency contact info, edit it within your series registration at the same link.

MVMBA FAST LAPS is back and it's still free (MVMBA membership is now required to participate)! Weather/course permitting. If needed, raindate is the week following a cancelled activity. Helmets and complete Activity Waiver required with check-in at the opening at 5:30pm and FAST LAPS riders off at 6:30pm. See www.facebook.com/groups/MVMBA for updates.

Register in webscorer pre-event (hopefully before noon) and check-in starting at 5:30pm on event evening to verify Activity Release and Number Plate. Permanent number plates (bring your number plate!) will be issued (first plate is free, requesting a number or replacment plates are $5 each). A digitally signed Activity Release (legible signature, verify event date, full emergency contact info - hopefully completed within WebScorer), Check-In and helmet required to participate. Under 18, release must be signed by parent/legal guardian. Limited on-site registration (via webscorer) may be available but is more challenging - late registrations may not be processed due to limited web access and personnel for manual entries (we are first going to give you the link to webscorer at the event, it's free to register early so just do it - we don't embarrass any no-shows with a DNS).

Please register before noon as we struggle to accommodate late registrations with poor cell coverage at the venue. If you want to precheck-in, make sure your registration and waiver are correct and email [email protected] before noon the day of the event (note that if you do precheck-in, you may be briefly listed as DNF if you are a no-show). Registration/check-in must be completed by 6:15pm to assure your participation and on-time start.

Registering multiple riders from the same webscorer account? If you wish to register another participant or edit a registration from your account: 1) Stay Signed into webscorer, 2) Select the "Event Registration Page" button 2nd from the top on the right on the webscorer event page, 3) Select Start new registration or edit registration as appropriate, Many of the blanks will autofill when you start typing (email, emergency contact, ...).

FAST LAPS training ride starts at 6:30pm. This FAST LAPS will be a self seeded group/wave-by-category/or TT start (or with a double track prologue) on a taped course. The number of laps will depend upon trail conditions but anticipate 40-80min total course length with roughly half of that for beginners/juniors). Prologue only category for kids/no pedal classes. Please shout your bib number when approaching the lap line to help facilitate timing (currently bib # based).

Don't want to ride?
We really need help with timing - which is a great way to spectate and track the riders progress! This is as simple as cheering and spotting number plates and pushing a button a tablet every time a rider passes the lap line.
The future of these events is dependent upon keeping volunteers running it and the 3 people currently doing it need help - please volunteer to make it better!

Volunteers:
Got time before or after FAST LAPS?
We also need help with processing check-ins (can ride FAST LAPS).
We could use help with setup, cheering/spotting number plates, course marshalling, riding sweep, results, podium awards, course tear down and packing up.
Volunteer signups (note that one person can sign up for more than one volunteer activity, we know cuz the 3 person race committee did all the jobs at FL #1 :s): Volunteer signup for MVMBA FASTLAPS

Donations also welcome and all go towards supporting MVMBA activities, see donate link at www.mvmba.bike

Categories include M and F categories as follows with numbers indicating start order which may be adjusted based upon prior FAST LAPS times. Depending upon numbers/venues this may be run as a self-selected group start, wave start, or time trial start. Don't like starting behind others then move up categories, e.g.: a fast High School rider can register in Sport, bring a fat bike and register in Fatbike, or register as Advanced/Expert.

Full course (~10-12 miles typically, 40-75 minutes):
Advanced/Expert
Fatbike - 3.8" and larger tires (can select a higher class)
Masters 50+ (age at start of current year)
Grand Masters 60+ (age at start of current year)
Sport - intermediate riders
Tandem!
High School (U18, under 18) - or fast juniors (if you are fast HS, move up categories!)
Recreational (no podiums)
Short Course (~4-8 miles, will exclude black diamond trails like Hawk's Lair at MOMBA):
Beginners/Novices (includes novice HS riders)
Juniors (U14, under 14) - elementary thru middle school (too easy? join the HS category or higher!)
Recreational SC (Short Course/no podiums)
Really Short Course - (typically a mile-ish but we don't have many entries and may be able to accommodate your request: all beginner trails, grass, and/or double track)
Kids (not up for the short course yet)
Striders/Balance Bikes (no pedals)

Starts: Wave-by-category or Time Trial start order may be determined by prior results and anticipated start order is shown by category number - plan to start with your wave start time as times may be corrected. Overall top 3 M&F podiums may be recognized (Alpha finishers may be excluded from category podiums). The MVMBA FAST LAPS committee reserves the right to 'graduate' riders to other classes. Be courteous, this is a free training activity and unsafe/unsportsmanlike behavior may result in cancellation of your series registration.

Categories may evolve as we go depending upon numbers and demand - keep in mind this is for fun and to foster the mountain biking community. Don't like the start order/categories/format/timing/course/venue/day/registration process? - volunteer, join the race committee (email [email protected]) and/or move up classes to start earlier! The race committee is mostly volunteers (and drafted family members) that would much rather be riding (or anything else for race committee family members that got dragged into it!) than doing this.
Email [email protected] for suggested improvements or to volunteer.
