Fashion Show Fundraiser

Join One Heart At A Time Foundation for a community event that is bound to leave you inspired. We love to spend our time with our underserved kids in the community. We take them on trips, do paint parties, vision board parties and more. Anything to spend time with them & have healthy dialogue. As Mental Health Advocates it is very important to us that every child feels, seen, heard, & loved. We want them to know that their circumstance today does not dictate their future. It's their choices moving forward that will have the most impact. We have plans to create a life skills training program for the kids but as you know this all takes resources.

For years, it has been my aspiration to unite the community for a worthy cause. Our event will showcase local fashion, feature students from the local community as models, and include participation from local vendors. Like City Lights Streetwear & Shara who have already graciously agreed to collaborate.

Through the One Heart At A Time Foundation, we dedicate time to support our underserved children and would be honored to have you join us in bringing our vision to life for Mental Health Awareness and the kids in our community.

My advocacy in this field began seven years ago, after the loss of my nephew. I had my own personal experience at 18 and never talked about it. Then thirty years later I was forced to face it all again when my 19 year old nephew surrendered his life. You would never know it by looking at him or speaking to him. He was doing great & always smiling, but unfortunately on the inside he suffered. Fortunately his mom (my sister) got us involved with the American Foundation for Suicide prevention. This is where I first shared my story. It was liberating and life changing.

Through the One Heart At A Time Foundation, we dedicate time to support our underserved children from local shelters, including the Union Rescue Mission in L.A. and Lydia's House here in Long Beach. We believe in empowering these children, reassuring them that their current circumstances do not dictate their future. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are organizing a trip for approximately 40 children to attend a play at the end of this month and I have much bigger dreams, but one step at a time.

At our last event after sharing my story, a young girl told us that she tried to surrender her life last year. She was only 10 years old. We were able to have open dialogue and share stories together. That, in my opinion was the beginning of healing and proof that we are on the right track.
