Hannibal Parks & Recreation Nature Interpreter Gale Rublee will lead the program. She said springtime is the time of year when frogs sing the night away. Spring Peepers and Chorus Frogs are some of the first to start their serenades. It’s only the male frogs that make noise and they’re calling to the females who will be laying their eggs in the water. The transformation of tadpoles into frogs is one of nature’s miracles. We’ll start at the shelter with some fun activities then walk up to the pond at dusk to listen to and observe the frogs. The full program is approximately 2 hours and will include a steep incline on the paved trail to the pond. Participants have the option to return sooner as desired.
