About this Event
Join King Conservation District and Oxbow Farm for an informative tour about Oxbow's veggie production, crop trials, and other conservation practices. We will also discuss programs to support farmers and resources avaiable to support conservation practices and adapt to changing weather conditions.
Topics include:
- Cover cropping - including how and why to use cover crops and lessons learned from Oxbow's summer cover crop trials.
- Water conservation - how Oxbow farmers conserve water, and water conservation practices that work for a variety of soil types.
- Western Washington's changing weather patterns - what this means for farmer and tools that are available to help farmers understand and plan for local changes.
- Conservation practices and how they are integrated into Oxbow's farming operations.
We will begin the tour promptly at 6pm. You are encouraged to join us as early as 5:30pm for hearty snacks before the tour. Food will still be available at 6, but you may have to eat as we walk around the farm.
