Fostering soil, wildlife and ecosystem health is at the core of Great Day Garden's mission as a farm. With a focus on growing healthy produce and flowers for the Lynchburg area community, this woman owned and operated farm is a model of human-scale ecological farming for the future.
Join us for a Land & Table potluck and farm tour at Great Day Gardens in Forest, Virginia, Tuesday, June 16 (6-8pm) as we explore the various layers of Great Day Gardens ecological approach to farming with owner / farmer Arden Jones. We'll examine their holistic approach:
- Reducing tillage.
- Creating pollinator habitat.
- Natural pest management .
- NO to GMOs, synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and artificial fertilizers.
- We source biological soil amendments.
- We make our own compost, plant cover crops, and apply copious amounts of straw and wood mulch.
